Introduction to our Blog

This blog to me is a wonderful chance to express my strong feelings on the topic of oil, and global warming. I have many problems with both. I believe as Dr. Evil stated "Oil is our Achilles heel" And as I Dr. Good AKA Zeke said "There are alot of problems with oil, we don't doubt that, Just because most americans don't understand the evils of oil, doesn't mean we are ignorant in other fields, such as greek mythology. For those who don't understand the Achilles heel reference, (pronounced Asheel) it is reffering to a person in greek mythology who was lame in one foot, and this acted as a hinderence to him, so what you meant was oil was a hinderance for us. Btw, doctor evil if you can guess who this is, i might tip more than I already do =]." So Dr. Evil, you lose!.

Anyway, this is the blog of Zeke And Raymond, we hope this helps. Oh and on a final note, some times withing the text there will be a small blue number, this is reffering to a foot note at the bottom of that section.

Question One-Zeke

Yes, my personal consumption of oil is part of the problem. Actually, believe it or not everyone's is. Everytime we use anything that uses oil we contribute to Global Warming by shooting the gasses that come from burning oil into the atmosphere. I believe that everyone should avoid using oil as much as possible, all it does is ruins our planet. If everyone used less oil than they do now, we would have a better place to live in, for instance lets say the population of the world used half the oil it does. Think about it this way, imagine you decide not to cut down on oil use because you think that it wouldn't make a difference if everyone else did, and you didn't. Well if you didn't then how can you expect every one else will? Personal consumption of oil is key, bring that down and then we are getting somewhere. Think about it this way, don't set your standards lower than you expect others, Like don't continue to be an oil consuming hog, and expect others to barely use oil.

Question Two-Zeke

Oil has everything to do with our environment, which I stated in the above speech. Its now time to get more into global warming1 Global Warming, what's that you ask? Well let me describe it for you, imagine you are 16 now. You drive your car to and from work every day, burning fuel. The fuel your car burns is called fossil fuel, because oil comes from the remains of dead sealife. Well this mixture burns in your car, and releases greenhouse gasses. Greenhouse gasses go into the atmosphere and stay there. Now light from the sun comes down to earth, and then bounces off the earth back out to the atmosphere, but can't find a way to get out2, so it is trapped in the atmosphere. Anyone who pays attention in Physics knows that energy will eventually turn into heat energy, which is what happens.

Also this is the reality of Global warming, for the Ice caps at least.

Don't fool yourself though, there are many more disasters coming with global warming, including the destruction of the rainforest, and the destruction of the ozone.

Global warming is so common now there are even Ketchup commercials made about it. Here is one such commercial.

What You Can Do To Prevent Global Warming3

1. Use alternative fuel sources, these may not always be easy to find, but they make a big difference. (such as ethanol)

2. Ride a bike instead of riding in a car.

3. Don't get apliances that have those little red standyby lights, I remember a couple years ago my dad read an article that was talking about how much energy they used, while I can't remember the stats, I can remember it was a lot.

4. Don't suck at life; don't set off nukes. (who'd of thought?)

5. And finally, use alternative energy sources, like solar panels on your roof. ( It works try it!)

Question 3- Raymond

In one word, yes. There are alot of Energy alternatives that can be used gasoline. The most common type of car that people think about is the lectric car. The idea of having an electric car has been around ever since oil is starting to become more scarce. So a car that might run on eletrcity has good sides and it has some bad sides to it. The good sides are that electric cars dont give of any toxic gases like carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide. also, you can recharge it overnight to have it ready for the next day. electric cars might replace gasoline cars in the near future. it certainly is a good replacement for gasoline cars. However, electric cars also ahs some bad sides to it. When recharging your car in the evening, there will be alot of electricity needed, where do they get it from, factorys. the factory that produces the most electricity are burning coal, which is then released into the atmosphere. also, the electricity needed every night might send youre electric bill skyrocketing. But electricity is no the only alternative that can be used. Bio diesels are cars that run on fuels derived from corn. So the car would run on corn? of course not. when compressing corn, a liquid starts to form which is know as corn ethane. this fuel is what could run youre bio diesel car. Vegetable oil is also used in bio diesel cars. But another type of energy alternative would be a car that runs on compresses air. So my car runs on Air now? yes. Scientists in France have already started the development of a car that runs purely on compressed air. heres the video:

So we have seen alot of Altrenative fuels that may power youre car, but the Compressed air would be the best out of all the other alternatives.

We all know that oil has been driving everyone crazy ever since it became scarce, but there have also been inccidents reported in the middle east. There was one inccident where Sadam hussain set fire to oil harvesters in the middle east during the gulf war. During that time, the sky turned almost black with smoke and the united nations where desperately trying to put it out. They somehow found a way to put out the fire that was causing so much destruction. But the middle east did not have so many problems with themself except for competition.
