Question # 1, Is your personal consumption of oil part of the problem?
My personal cosumption of oil is not affecting the enviorment greatly. The way that the enviorment is being effected is by everyone in the world using oil daily. The world uses 71.7 million barrels per day of oil. This is causing a huge amount of problems with our enviorment such as global warming, and acid rain. With these very dangerous problems living in our world, the world is becoming unsafe.
The way I use a lot of oil every day. I use oil a grand amount of products. All of our rubber products are made from petroleum and also driving to the school, back and forth every day creates a large amount of oil used. I also rely on oil to heat many household items. When you are driving on tar roads you are using oil, that is because you are driving on oil. I also use oil everyday when I drive to different places outside of the school, such as a store or a restaurant.

2. What impact does oil have on our environment?
Some of the impacts oil has on the environment are that we destroy forests to get to the oil and that the oil burn off destroys our atmosphere.
We destroy the environment to get to the so called black gold. Since we destroy the forests we also destroy the animals that live there. Both the animals and the forests are part of the environment. Since we destroy the animals and the forests which are the environment we destroy the environment.
So far I have only talked about the woodland creatures but what about the things that affects us. When we burn oil it makes pollution and destroys our atmosphere. When the atmosphere gets destroyed more of the suns energy gets in. when more of the suns energy shines on the earth it
causes global warming. Due to global warming the polar ice caps are melting which are raising sea levels. Since the water levels are raising it will flood the earth. When the earth floods we will die.
Here is the spread of one use of a barrel of oil.

3. Are there any viable energy alternatives?
Yes, there are some viable energy alternatives such as E85 which is 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline. E85 is a fairly new type of energy and it is used just like oil. It is actually oil made from corn so that means corn is also a viable energy alternative. Two cars have been adapted to allow it to run off of gasoline or E85. 1 gallon of E85 cuts releases 85%less pollution than 1 gallon of gasoline. so even though it uses oil itonly uses a little bit and it becomes a superhero instead of being a supervillan.
Yes, there is a definite connection between oil and the violence in the Middle East. This is one of the reasons many American's beleive we are having a war in the Middle East. We are funding the other side of the war every time we use oil. Also, oil leads to a lot of money and riches. So the Middle Easterns fight a lot over how the oil is controlled. Oil controls many parts of our lives and will continue to affect it, until we find a alternate energy source.
