Is your personal consumption of oil part of the problem?
- Yes, my personal consumption of oil is part of the environmental problems the world is having right now. If it were only me using gas for driving, that would not be a problem, but since the majority of people in the world drive and use oil, it becomes a huge problem. Most people think that their oil consumption would not matter because there are millions of people using oil, and they are just one of them. So people tend to ignore the dangers and fatal problems of oil such as environmental pollution and harming our health. The reason why our personal consumption of oil could be a lethal problem is that all these uses of oil add up to enormous amount. In conclusion, our personal consumption of oil is the problem and if we don't realize how this is part of a larger problem, we will not be able to live in a suitable environment in the future.

What impact does oil have on our environment?
- Oil leaves many harmful impacts on our environment. One of the problems that using of oil result is Global Warming. Global warming is the increasing temperature of the Earth which is a major concern and issue among many people, and the oil is the main reason for the global warming. When oil is burned, it releases greenhouse gases, which allow sunlight to enter to the earth freely and trap the heat from sunlight in the atmosphere. This process speeds up the rate of temperate going up and makes the Earth hotter and hotter, causing global warming. Global warming causes a lot of things. Sea levels rising, melting of land ice, more frequent hurricanes, and more diseases such as malaria. The higher temperature is melting an icelands, which becomes a water and adds to the sea levels. Also, the more humidity caused by hotter temperature increases the dieseases like malaria in Africa. All these problems are mostly caused by the uses of oil. Even though the oil is essential for moderen societies and now one of the priorities that human needs right now, but if we don't reduce the amount we are using, there will be no future for the Earth.

Are there any viable energy alternatives?
-Yes, There are many alternative sources of energy than just oil. One source that a lot of car companies are researching is fuel cells. With fuel cell cars they run completely off hydrogen. They have no emissions. The only product of the fuel cell reaction is water. Another type of energy we can run our cars off of is biofuels. Biofuel cars use a mixture of some gas and corn oil. This is a good source because it doesn't use as much gas and corn is a renewable resource, you can regrow corn every year. We can also use E-85, its like biofuels but it has 85% corn oil and 15% gas. Another way to reduce oil dependency is with hybrid cars. Hybrid cars use gas or diesel and a battery, the battery is charged by regenerative breaking. When breaking the energy from stopping the vehicle is stored back in the vehicle battery.
-I believe there is a connecting between oil and violence in the Middle East. Maybe Bush isn't attacking Iraq for oil but other countries have. In the past Iraq invaded Kuwait, Iraq thought they were being mistreated because they had barely any connection to the sea. Also Kuwait had a lot of oil for being a small country. When Iraqi troops were retreating from Kuwait they burned the oil wells. This tells us that Iraq wasn't happy about Kuwait having oil wells. Most people in the Middle East want to own oil wells. People that have a lot of oil wells in the Middle East make a lot of money. The people that have a ton of money from the oil start getting greedy. Wanting more oil, and the people with the most money have more power. I think the peoples lust for power and money drives them to do uncivilized things.
