Is your personal consumption of oil part of the problem?
I believe that my personal consumption of oil is a very small part of the problem. I mean, one person cannot at fault for the oil problem in its entirety. However, a large group certainly can. First of all, driving a car is the main source of transport for my family, and many families around the world. Over time, this adds up large release of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. Actually, cars are responsible for releasing one third of the total of greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere. Also, cars use up 55% of the total of gas used in the United States. Secondly, when the temperature is at an uncomfortably high or low, the air conditioner and heating unit runs regularly in most buildings, including my home. This also uses oil as a source of power. Finally, the make-up, nail polish, hair dye, and lipstick that most women and teens use daily around the world is partly made from oil. Putting on certain make-up is a daily routine of mine. When added up, all this use of oil around the world is killing our planet slowly, but surely.
What impact does oil have on our environment?
First of all, about six million tons of oil are dumped into oceans per year. This in turn poisons and kills the animals, sometimes causing them to become endangered. Also, the burning of oil releases carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, which then helps cause global warming. With this, I conclude that oil definitely has a great impact on the environment. Most of which is negative, rather then positive.

Are there any visible energy alternatives?
Two visible energy's that can be an alternative to oil is solar energy, and Ethanol energy. Solar energy would be a good alternative to oil because the sun will never completely stop shining on the earth for over 24 hours. Although, for around 12 hours of a 24 day it is dark which means after 7pm, people with solar powered cars can not drive and that will be a major hassle for people. Ethanol energy would be fairly useful, in fact, in other parts of the world they are using sugar cane Ethanol to fuel cars instead of oil and they are very successful. There is also the alternative for oil which would be wind energy which is very unlikely to have a major effect on the oil consumption because wind is very unlikely to be available everyday at any time of the day for 365 days. Therefore, only Ethanol energy and solar energy seem like very useful alternatives to oil.
Is there a connection between oil and violence in the Middle East?
Yes, oil and violence are connected because if the United States didn't spend most of our money on barrels and barrels of oil we wouldn't be hanging from a string in the Middle Easts hand. It also creates violence because there is only a certain amount of oil on the Earth and most of it is concentrated in the Middle East thus everyone is going head over heel to pounce at any chance for more oil to feed their obsessive habits. This obsessive habit causes violence amongst countries and people so that they can be the first to get at the crude oil the Middle East uproots everyday. Oil is probably a key source of a lot of violence happening to the Middle East.
