Is Oil Evil?

Question 1: Is your personal consumption of oil part of the problem?

<--This is part of the problem.  I am part of it.

My personal consumption of oil is, along with everyone else's, part of the problem.  Because my family owns two cars, we consistently spend money on gas.  When OPEC notices that there is a lot of demand for their product, they continue to cut off the supply, allowing prices to rise to levels that suit their interests.  These greedy people raise the prices for all of the consumers just so they can make more money, a good portion of which will probably end up in the hands of terrorists or used towards various nuclear programs to create not only conflict over oil prices but also fuel other conflicts caused by terrorists or based on nuclear programs in countries that are considered dangerous and controlled by radical regimes.

Here's a frightening thought: We fund people like this...

...to do things like this:

Oil is also used for many other products, further increasing the oil companies' riches, and eventually those of the terrorists that are funded by some oil-rich countries.  Also, the price of other products made using oil rise the more we guzzle gas and fail to recycle.  This makes everything more expensive and everyone poorer - except, of course, the oil companies and the terrorists they fund.  Then, we get attacked by terrorists, and guess what - we are paying for their attacks.  And the U.S., who is taking the lead in the war on terrorism, has the lead in oil consumption.  We are fighting the hardest against terrorism, and we are also funding it the most.  Take a look at this website for more information on oil consumption: http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/ene_oil_con-energy-oil-consumption.

So, yes, my personal consumption of oil is part of the problem, if only a small part.  But with all the people who also consume a lot of oil, the small personal consumption issues start to add up, and we get problems such as those we have today.  We could probably reduce these problems by using oil products less, and driving less, but in this world, that is very hard to do.

mallika kumar:I think your blog was layed out nicely. The pictures added a interesting and helpful touch to it. I liked how each answer to each question was on a different page because it gave the blog a neat quality. It is kind of frightening how true your point about funding terrorists is. It was good to point it out.
Joe:I agree that money from oil is used to from terrorists. It's a major problem. If only more people saw this, then we (as a country) might fight our dependency on oil. I also like the layout of your page. It is very attractive and presents the information in a professional manner.
