Question #1: Is your personal consumption of oil part of the problem?

You personal consumption of oil is part of the oil crisis. Many people take oil for granted. They do not try to conserve as much of it as they can. This is the main problem. If the more people were able to preserve oil by carpooling, remembering to turn the stove off, etc. the world would be a much better and safer place.

Question #2: What impact does oil have on our environment?

Oil has a very big impact on our environment. You may see that our environment is doing fine now but over time our environment will become corrupt. In order to obtain oil you have to drill it. This is hazardous to the Earth. The U.S. Geological Survey stated that there is just a fifty percent chance of locating a six month supply of oil. In reality it would not be found until about ten years later because engineers have to plan and construct the tools to drill the oil out. In doing this, we are ruining the homes of thousands of animals. THe impact of oil has changed our lives. We should learn how to conserve energy so we will be able to keep our environment unpolluted.

Question #3: Are there any viable energy alternatives?

Yes there are possible energy alternatives to oil. Because the United States has the knowledge to get power from the sun and use generate electricity from it. The electricity will be used to power hydrogen-cars, trains, buses, boats and ships. Hydrogen is a cleaner substance which can replace fossil fuels, and converting the nation’s power system will make us less reliant on oil. Hydrogen can also be made from different sources of energy such as wind, solar, biomass, fossil and nuclear, which is easier and better than oil since it only has a couple sources.

Question #4: Is there a connection between oil and violence in the Middle East?

There is a little connection between oil and violence in the Middle East. I believe that the main reason is because of the "weapons of mass destruction". American troops were sent into the Middle East because there were sources saying that there were destructive weapons there which were going to be used to attack the United States. Also, it was believed that Al-Qaida was in the Middle East plotting against us. Due to the fact that most of the oil reserves are located in the Middle east, people are fighting over the oil since everyone needs it and it is valuable. Those who own/control the oil get a lot of money when it is bought from them, which results in violence between the people of the Middle East.
