Question 1

Is your personal consumption of oil part of the problem?

Yes, my personal consumption of oil is part of the problem because my family owns two cars and one of them is a SUV, so it takes up more oil. And this is not just the matter of one person causing the problem but it is everyone together and none of this can be blamed on one person (even if the United States has the biggest oil consumption). So yes, everyone is part of the problem, but this problem was created by us (everyone) as a whole and all of us are the whole problem, together.

So in conclusion my personal consumption of oil is part of the problem but not the whole problem. And this cannot be blamed on one person or one country, but we are all part of the problem and we all made this problem together. And there are ways to fix this problem if we can find an alternate energy source.

Question 2

What impact does oil have on our environment?

Oil has a major impact on our environment because it is the main reason that global is such a problem. Oil is the main reason that global warming even started. And now it is getting worse because it is polluting the air so much, that the climate is changing rapidly and it is like "Day After Tomorrow" in real life. For people who have not seen this movie it is a movie about New York going into a serious climate changes. And another way that it is damaging our environment is by oil spills. For example not a long time back Korea had to clean up after an oil spill and it was not pretty. Many animals were greatly affected by this and it also caused many problems for the beaches and it made it difficult to filter out all of this oil into pure water, or it just made t harder to even remove from the ocean.

Besides all this we do not have that much oil preserves and this was a major waste of oil so oil

has a very big impact on our environment and can change many things in our environment, but one must not forget the good side of oil because without oil many people would not have running cars and everyone would need a different type of fuel for their cars. So oil has a very big impact on our enviroment and can change many things very quickly, but it also helps us in many ways. So oil is helping us while ruining our enviroment.

Question 3

Are there any viable energy sources?

There ane many other energy alternatives than oil. Since America uses a lot of oil, it also came up with alternatives such as hydrogen, solar power, fuel cell, electricity, energy from coal to make hydrogen, and ethanol. In United States oil is mainly used for transportation. Most of the energy for hydrogen is made from solar power. For example Honda, uses solar panels to make energy which is used to make hydrogen.

Every fuel cell has a byproduct such as oxygen. A hydrogen fuel cell uses Hydrogen, water and oxygen to power the car and there is no need of oil. Not everyone can buy a hydrogen car but with mass production the prices will surely come down. Probably an estimation of after 3 years more fuel cell cars would get to market. So, there are other energy alternatives but by looking at the number of people who ride today's American cars, it will take time to get rid of oil.

Question 4

Is there a connection between oil and violence in the Middle East?

There is definitely a connection between oil and the violence in the Middle East. First of all Middle East gets most of its money from oil. And what do they buy with that? They buy massive weapons. So the main reason that Middle East has enough money to buy these equipments is because we are literally giving all the money they need by buying oil from them. So yes, there is a definite connection between oil and the Middle East because we are practically funding them by buying their oil. And they are buying their weapons of mass destruction with our funding, and they are killing us with the money we have given them. So there is a connection between violence and the Middle East.

Rhea:The blog was well done. They fully answered the questions and included pictures which grabbed my attention. After reading their response, I was able to recognize the amount of oil we consume and that we should try to limit it. Overall, the blog was creative attention grabbing. Rhea S
Priyanka V.:I found this blog to be well presented. Its style made me interested to read it. The responses to the question were very well put. I also liked how there was a picture for most of the questions. However, for some of the questions the same idea was repeated over again. This blog made me think about how much oil we are using every day and how we should be trying to stop this. The whole page was creative and original. Priyanka V
Adam:In response to question one: Well put! Even though we ourselves may make a small step to lower our use of oil, our whole society needs to make these steps (no matter how small they are) so that we could see any change in our consumption of oil. The only way to do this is together as a nation; in a similar way Al Gore has attempted to unite our nation and congress to stopping the effects of global warming and C02 emissions. -Adam J
