Is Oil Evil?

Fabienne--This is my response

Ramina-This is my response

Is your personal consumption of oil part of the problem?

Yes. Oil can be a problem in different ways, it can be an environmental problem as much as a political problem. It could also be a problem because oil is extremely costly. Since oil can be used for cars, it pollutes the air, which again increases the rate of global warming. Also, oil is very expensive and its value will keep increasing, this is way many people are getting into the problem of not having enough money for it. Oil is a necessity of everyday life so without the low prices we once had, we will not be able to do as much as before, because of the cost of it. The prices of oil makes it a political problem, because Counties will have to start looking for new land, where oil is found. This is way, in the last few years, more and more counties have been trying to take over parts of the Middle East. The Middle East is one of the few countries that has a lot of oil.

Even though Fabienne you have a good point I still think the consumption of oil is a part of the problem because the use of the oil by factories and machinery is destroying our environment. This is also adding to the problem of global Warming. This is becoming a costly problem and it takes more to rebuild our environment than to destroy it. Our problem is demandingly increasing and we are not trying to prevent it in any way. This economic and political problem of oil is being used over excessively. We are mistreating the oil that we have and it is growing to be a enormous problem. The costly consumption and the consumption of global warming is becoming a problem this is why I feel that the consumption is a major problem in the major world. I have a feeling that as tech. advances we may be able to over come these "problems".

What impact does oil have on our environment?

Oil has a big impact on our environment! Because it is used by cars, it will pollute the air. By pollution the rate of global warming will keep increasing. Global warming makes the temperature rise. With this great increase of temperature, many plants and animals won’t be able to survive. Also, by the increasing of temperature, more water from oceans, seas, lakes and rivers will be absorbed. This will cause for more rain to fall onto the Earth. If more and more rain will fall down, won’t countries get flooded??? Yup! They will in no time! And we don’t want to be the cause for flooding right? Ups!

OMG, I totally agree with fabienne but, the impact of oil on the environment is that the consumption is destroying our environment. The oil itself is not a problem, the use of it is. This is why oil is not a great impact but the use of the oil is an impact.  It is not helping our lifestyle. We can help can rid of this horrible use of oil and stop damaging our environment. This causes global warming like Fabienne said and the world will increase in temperature. The oil is a use in terms of destruction to our earth!

Are there any viable energy alternatives?

There are so many alternatives using oil. We can have hybrid cars which are a classic way of saving the use of oil, although we need to improve the use of the battery it is still an environmental friendly car. The use of oil can be replaced and used for other things. If we also thought of electrical alternatives then it would make a big difference in the world, like the air would be much cleaner, temperatures will not rise, and it will make humans healthier too. There are also alternatives like wind, solar, hydrogen, electric and nuclear, although there are still gliches with these substitutes of oil. In the future i am sure that we will. def. be able to overcome types of things like these.

Ramina! Hey, whats up? Its me, fabienne! I totally agree with you. Changing regular cars to hybrid cars is a good idea. I also think that we should change our WAY of using oil, in our every day lives, so it won’t hurt the environment!!! We might be able to one day, use electricity for everything, instead of oil. This way we will never run out of it, and it will not increase in costs.

Is there a connection between oil and violence in the Middle East?

The use of is oil is leading to violence because it is leading to war. The oil is being traded throughout countries and the amount is creating. We are consuming oil at a fast rate and it is leading to destruction of the world in many ways. Each country needs a supply of oil so like the oil is being consumed all around the world each day. If we do not stop this violence then like I said before the world will slowly be in progress of destruction.

Oil and the Middle East……How could this possibly bring violence??? Well, many don’t know how, but it does. Remember before, in answer #1, how I talked to you about how the costs of oil causes countries to look for cheaper oil in the Middle East, Ramina?? Well, that’s exactly what happens. Countries like the U.S.A, will want more oil, for less money. And that’s how they will try to take over the Middle East. All this just to get more oil!!!!!!! Why?? Money is the problem! If we had all the money we wanted, we would be able to pay for all the oil we wanted! And then, the USA would not have to go to the Middle East to take over, which would then STOP THE WAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! see how easy that is??  lol just kidding. In fact its not easy at all! but this problem will stay the governments problem! hahaha
